Update from Normandale Preschool

Greetings from Normandale Preschool!

What interesting and prayerful times in which we live. Since you last heard from us the Governor has closed all schools as well as restaurants and many public areas. Some of you likely find yourself working from home while other essential employees continue to drive to work daily. Within a few days our world and lives have changed. This is what we know as of today: At this time, Edina Public Schools and Normandale Preschool plan to return to school after Spring Break. However, things change rapidly, so we will keep you updated as events unfold. Tuition will be addressed once we know what the days ahead hold for our school.

We know that we have vulnerable families in our midst. You may be worried about health, jobs, income, children, older parents, or food supplies. Please tell us how we can be of help. You can e-mail with your needs or concerns: joanne@normluth.org.

I leave with you words from Deuteronomy 31:6 Be Strong and of good courage, fear not, nor be afraid: for the Lord Thy God He it is Who goes with you

Orchestra Hall... Here We Come!

Our 4-year-old students went to Orchestra Hall this fall to attend a Kinder Konzert.  Kinder Konzerts combine music education with literacy development. Each probam consists of two sections. The first half of the program children sit on stage with an ensamble of Minnesota Orchestra musicians. The musicians introduce their instruments and give examples of common musical concepts. A story is then narrated to a composition the musicians perform. The second half of the program children participate in a sound factory where they continue to explore musical concepts and try instruments such as a violin or snare drum. We always have a fun learning experience at Orchestra Hall!

Normandale Preschool Goes to Stages Theater!

Each winter, after the Christmas holiday, we go on a fun and exciting all-school field trip to Stages Theater, in the beautiful Hopkins Center for the Arts. Stages offers productions for young students that are typically one hour in length, allowing us time to arrive back at school before the end of the preschool day. It's two field trips in one as we ride a school bus to the theater which brings smiles to those riding a bus for the very first time. We have seen many wonderful shows such as Frederick, Goodnight Moon, and The Mitten. It's always a field trip to remember for years to come.

French Fun, Mais Oui and French Fun Petits!

Normandale Preschool is excited to offer a French Immersion experience to both our 3 and 4-year-old students. Marie-Jeanne Delevaux-Hargitt, a native French speaker and one of the founders of Normandale French Immersion Elementary School, will instruct both classes. Madam Hargitt will follow all the domains of learning found in the Normandale Preschool curriculum, adding fun games, songs, crafts, art, and movement... all in French! Each class is limited to 10 students, so classes fill quickly.
